Gifts…Passions…Values

Richard Leider said, “Gifts + Passions + Values = Purpose.”  I have never felt this equation more since starting my private practice and being able to combine my gifts, my passions, and my values into a truly rewarding career.  Since 2019, I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I love.  I get to connect with, and help people in very rewarding ways, and I get to make a living doing so.  I wake up every day, excited to do the work that I do, because I know that I have the opportunity to help others, while developing as a professional and growing as human being at the same time.

I want to bring some of the blessings I have been given to others who might also need help.  When I started this private practice, I was focused on being able to work in meaningful ways with people who needed help and to have autonomy and independence in my career.  I have intentionally set goals for my business that have kept me in line with those values.  Now, there are two other values that I know need a greater space in my life: altruism and community

This is why we are starting the Golden Giving program through Broken Gold Counseling.  The Golden Giving program is about giving the best within us, our gifts, to help others.  It is about giving the brightest that we have to offer to lift up others.  This program will offer two donation-based sessions per month of Accelerated Resolution Therapy to selected individuals, in need, who cannot afford this treatment on their own.  The only requirement is a minimum $25 donation/session to the Breaking Free Foundation, an organization that also works to provide trauma therapy to individuals who need it but may not be able to afford the cost of therapy on their own.

MISSION

To increase mental and emotional wellbeing in individuals by making it easier to access therapy services regardless of economic status and to strengthen the community through donation-based services.

 FAQs

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a trauma treatment which uses eye movements and voluntary image replacement to change the way the brain associates with traumatic memories. Learn more.

  • The Golden Giving program is the charity and pro bono branch of Broken Gold Counseling. The goal of this program is to offer therapy services at low or no cost to individuals who may need mental health support but cannot afford these services on their own. The vision for this program is encompassed by the values of altruism and community. By bringing together providers who have services, skills, and resources to offer to those who are in need we can strengthen our community by creating opportunity for people to heal from trauma. Presently, the only service offered through this program is ART.

  • Any adult 18 or older who has experienced a traumatic event, and wishes to rid themselves of the negative sensations, images, and symptoms that they may be dealing with as a result of the trauma they experienced.

  • All that is required is to fill out an application. Applications are taken throughout the month and reviewed at the end of the month. The selected recipient will be notified at the beginning of the next calendar month.

  • Selections will be determined on either a first come, first served basis, or by greatest need. Applicants that are not selected will have their applications put in for the following month.

  • Individuals can apply for as many sessions of ART as they need. During your consultation session prior to your ART session, your therapist will help you estimate how many sessions of ART you might need to reprocess the trauma on which you are working.

  • Yes. In the spirit of altruism and paying-it-forward, I ask that selected recipients make a minimum $25 donation directly to the Breaking Free Foundation and provide proof of your donation. Alternatively, you can pay the $25 donation at the time of your session and Broken Gold Counseling will make the donation on your behalf and provide proof of receipt of the donation.
